PHOTOS: This is What the Protest Looks Like Outside Trump’s El Paso Rally

Donald Trump is hold a campaign rally in El Paso, Texas tonight — the latest stunt in his ongoing obsession to build the border wall. During last week’s State of the Union address, Trump singled out El Paso as a place that supposedly represented his false narrative about life on the border. Not so, advocates, leaders, and community members from El Paso fired back. As Rep. Veronica Escobar, who represents the region, said today on our press call:

For us this misinformation is personal. It’s an attack on our family and on our identity, and it’s one we won’t stand for….this community has been feeding and taking care of asylum seekers for years, and has been working hard for the most vulnerable for decades and decades. The rest of the country could stand to learn a lesson from the way in which the El Paso community engages with people.

Tonight, Escobar, Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), organizations like the Border Network for Human Rights and the Women’s March, and thousands of other advocates and community members are protesting outside Trump’s El Paso rally, taking a stand against both Trump’s border wall and the lies he keeps telling in the effort to get it built.
