Yesterday, House Democrats introduced a new immigration reform bill that contains a path to citizenship. While the bill currently only features Democratic sponsors, its supporters are hoping that House Republicans will soon also join on, since all of the bill’s provisions are bipartisan in nature.
In that spirit of bipartisanship, Reps. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and Jeff Denham (R-CA) are appearing on a new video extolling the fact that immigration reform has bipartisan support and calling upon the House to pass legislation. The video first aired last Sunday on Perspectiva Nacional with Armando Guzmán, and is a reminder that Democrats and Republicans can still work together, especially on issues like immigration reform. Watch the video below:
Denham is one of at least 26 House Republicans who have declared support for immigration reform with a path to citizenship, and last weekend went on Al Punto with Jorge Ramos to talk about why Congress needs to pass immigration reform now. To make good on his commitment to the cause, Denham should cosponsor the comprehensive House bill that came out yesterday and become a thorn in the side of House GOP leadership ensuring that they take action this year.
