Trinity Cluster Official Statement About Mt. Pleasant Raid

“Do not be afraid.  Go on speaking, and do not be silent, for I am with you.  No one will attack and harm you, for I have many people in this city.” Acts 18: 9-10

On behalf of the Trinity Cluster Catholic community (parishes in Postville, Monona and McGregor) and the Tenth Anniversary Committee of the Postville Raid, I present this official statement in response to the Mt. Pleasant Raid on May 9, 2018.

We stand in solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa as law enforcement and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided the Midwest Precast Concrete facility Wednesday morning. We pray for our brothers and sisters. We cannot continue to experience more raids in the USA. Families are divided and children suffer the trauma of not having their parents with them. Therefore, we continue to have a strong voice to call for immigration reform in the USA.

We will continue with our plans to commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of the Postville Raid on Friday, May 11, 2018 beginning with an interfaith prayer service at 10:00 AM at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville, followed by a walk to Meyer Park and a noon rally.
