Back in June we brought you the case of Fredy Mencia, a Michigan father who was fighting his deportation in order to stay in the country with his wife and three children.
After a rally in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a petition effort that managed to gather over 5,000 signatures, Fredy has some very exciting news that he would like to share with everyone who supported his case.
“We were asking the immigration department to reopen my case… and I received a notice from the immigration department telling me that they granted my petition. That day was – we were so happy, because I was telling my wife that we are going to have more time to stay together as a family.”
You can watch Fredy’s full update on the video below:
Fredy recognizes that his journey to stay with his family is not over, and while he has been granted some reprieve, we still need your help to ensure that he is allowed to remain in Michigan with his wife and children.
As President Obama’s executive actions on immigration continue to be stalled in the courts, it is important to remember how much of an impact our voices and efforts can have on cases like Fredy’s.
We will continue to keep you updated on Fredy’s case in the coming weeks. For now, we thank you for taking action in helping to keep this Michigan family together.
