The Dream and Promise Act passed out of the House on a 237-187 vote today. It’s a momentous occasion, and one that’s been years in the making. The bill takes us one step closer to permanent protections for Dreamers and TPS-holders — longtime immigrants who have lived in the U.S. and contributed to our country for decades. Below are some of our favorite tweets from the House vote:

The #DreamAndPromiseAct passed the House!
This is why votes matter. This shows us how vital advocacy is in policymaking.
Let’s call on the #RepublicanSenate to pass this bill, too!! https://t.co/LLEfj0RICI

The #DreamAndPromiseAct has passed the House! People power, organizing, & elections matter.
Two things I’m the most proud of.
1) ppl directly impacted led the shaping of this bill. S/O to @UNITEDWEDREAM @UndocuBlack @GoIUPAT & more! https://t.co/TiMsEoFY6a— Cristina Jiménez (she/ella) (@CrisAlexJimenez) June 4, 2019

Congrats to the Dreamers + activists who put this over the finish line today in the House. Proud of how you’ve worked to make this a must do for Dems, held off motions to recommit. Truth: "Immigrant youth, #TPS and #DED holders, and our allies have been organizing, visiting members of Congress, sharing their stories, and taking action to get to this historic moment." https://t.co/mhTZ8RAhp0 #DreamAndPromiseNow

Advocates are billing this HR 6 win as particularly notable because it is not tied to enforcement— a bill that's about "protecting immigrants without hurting immigrants." pic.twitter.com/Mww1X2fbyl

Jubilant with the passage of HR 6 in the house. Thank you to @RepJayapal and all the members of the house that supported the dreams of thousands of immigrant families by voting yes. Now is time for the senate to do the same #DreamAndPromiseActNow pic.twitter.com/8G8oaUDBxd
— CASA (@CASAforall) June 4, 2019
now @RepJoeNeguse is kicking ass as he nukes the GOP's BS MTR on #HR6. We really have so many impressive Freshmen Dem members who are just not taking the GOP's shit. NO on GOP MTR, then YES on #HR6 #DreamAndPromiseNow

House passes the Dream and Promise Act, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for more than a million undocumented immigrants. The vote was 237-187

BIG NEWS: The House just passed #HR6, the #DreamAndPromiseAct! I'm proud to co-lead this bill to protect our #Dreamers and #TPS/#DED recipients, and provide them a path to citizenship. Our country and economy are stronger thanks to the contributions of these amazing Americans.

THREAD: Before I was sworn into office, I made a pledge to fight for immigration reform & for our #DREAMers. Today, I'm honored to cast my vote on the House Floor for the #DreamandPromiseAct which would provide a pathway to citizenship for DACA & TPS recipients. pic.twitter.com/tdRBpX2cV4

The House just passed important legislation to protect Dreamers and those under Temporary Protected Status. We’re working to do the same in the Senate, including my bill to protect TPS recipients. Let’s stand together and demand McConnell allow a vote! https://t.co/Ov8Zvh6zmV

Dreamers, as well as TPS and DED recipients who have lived in the U.S. for decades, should not live in fear because Congress refuses to take action.
✅ Tonight I voted yes on #HR6 — a critical first step to fix our broken immigration system.

#DreamAndPromiseAct passes House! Elections matter, as does heartfelt, values-driven issue advocacy over time. @MoveOn members poured our hearts out for DREAM in 2017 w/months-long, $1mm+ campaign following lead of groups like @UNITEDWEDREAM @FWDus @domesticworkers @AmericasVoice

HR 6 passed the House of Representatives 237-187! Finally over 2 million Dreamers and TPS/DED recipients have won congressional action to give them permanent status! Thank you to all those who voted YES, for a brighter future for all! #DreamAndPromiseNow @AmericasVoice

Still reflecting on this moment–the House gallery reaction to swift and final passage of HR 6. I was on the House Floor in 2010 when the House last passed the #DreamAct.
I can tell you that it's moments like this one that make staffers and members alike feel like they are in a special place, and sometimes can do special things.
Thanks for the reminder, @RepJoeNeguse. https://t.co/wmM6Tn3JRc

Like the overwhelming majority of Americans, I support a path to citizenship for Dreamers and TPS holders. Today’s passage of the #DreamAndPromiseAct by the House reflects the spirit of the stronger, more compassionate nation that we aspire to be.

Key moment in the debate over #DreamAndPromiseAct: the vote in the motion to recommit. Key ally to stiffen the spine of Dems so they rebuffed the cynical GOP MTR: @DavidNir. Thank you, kind sir, for being a badass on behalf of immigrant justice!

Today, after YEARS of GOP refusal, the House finally voted on the DREAM Act under a Dem majority.
The moment when it passed was like a rock concert 🎸
The people’s cheers brought many, many members to tears.
What a moment. This is why we fight. https://t.co/b04OBCaVDz

What did yesterday's #DreamAndPromiseNow vote mean? In 2010, 38 House Dems voted against the Dream Act https://t.co/DgoCBAtTCH. Yesterday, every single Dem voted for Dreamers and TPS holders. We won that.
