In just a few hours, Trump will address the nation in his first State of the Union, summarizing what he constitutes as his ‘successes’ over the course of the last year. The nation and an audience comprised of TPS holders, Dreamers, and relatives of deported or detained immigrants, who will attend as guests of members of Congress, will look on and know the truth: through his immigration policies, Trump has deported hard-working Americans, broken up families, and left hundreds of thousands of immigrants wondering what is next.

Flor de Maria Campos, guest of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV): Flor de Maria Campos arrived in the United States from El Salvador at the end of 2000. Along with her husband Jose Alvarado who is also a TPS recipient, Flor worked in the restaurant industry until they saved enough money to start their own restaurant. Their first business venture failed, but Flor and Jose have worked even harder since to open two restaurants of their own in Las Vegas. On top of managing their restaurants, Jose also works as a chef for a renowned restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip. Flor and Jose have two children who are both U.S. citizens.
Nery Martinez, guest of Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-NV): Nery fled the Salvadoran civil war in the 1990s and has lived in Las Vegas since then. He is a bar apprentice at the Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino, and a member of UNITE Here, Culinary Local 226. Nery is the father of two U.S. citizen children. Both Nery and his wife are recipients of temporary protected status (TPS). As Nery said recently, “I will be at the address to remind [Trump] and this administration that TPS recipients like me are here to make this already great nation even greater.”
Edenilson Granados, guest of Rep. Seth Moulton (D) (MA-6): Edenilson, a father and Salvadoran immigrant, is one of over two dozen employees at Kettle Cuisine, in Lynn, Massachusetts, with Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
