Latin musical powerhouses Maná and Los Tigres del Norte sent a powerful message to Latino voters last night.
Moments after concluding their duet performance of the song “Somos Mas Americanos” (We Are More American), the bands came together to raise a white sign that asked Latinos to stand united against racism.

The sign, which reads in spanish “Latinos United, Don’t Vote for Racists,” has quickly spread across social networks – and served as the launch for the #SomosMas2016 campaign, which urges Latinos to register and pledge to vote.

In accompanying video, Maná’s front man Fher Olvera share the following regarding the #SomosMas2016 campaign:
“Hey everyone, I am here at the Latin Grammys, and I wanted to share some very interesting news. The United States is currently the second highest Spanish speaking country in the world, right after Mexico. There is a power in this country, a good power that needs to be used – use it! Go out and vote, vote, vote for the most humane candidate.”
It is important to recognize that while no specific candidate is mentioned by Maná, Los Tigres del Norte, or the #SomosMas2016 campaign, their message arrives at a time when anti-immigrant sentiment is on the rise.
