The nationwide March for Immigrant Dignity and Respect was technically last week, but immigration reform advocates and allies this weekend continued to push for reform. Thousands of people showed up for rallies in Chicago and Omaha, Nebraska this last weekend, while activists in Tucson, Arizona engaged in an act of civil disobedience when they blocked a bus carrying deportees outside of an Arizona courthouse. As the ongoing demonstrations show, immigration reform is not a campaign that will end anytime soon. It is a movement that will only continue to put ever more pressure on Congress–and the sooner the GOP realizes that, the better off they’ll be.
