Just last week, we wrote about the Washington state legislature and the runaway vote they took to pass the state DREAM Act, 75-22. Yesterday, Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat, signed the bill into law, further helping immigrant students in the state be able to afford college. The mood in the state capitol was ebullient yesterday as crowds of students, advocates, union supporters, and others swarmed in for the celebration, which included a mariachi band and dancers.
“I’ve had a lot of good days as Governor,” Gov. Inslee said according to a tweet, “but this might be the best.”
