DREAMers and advocates were all over the Hill today, storming more than 100 offices in an end-of-the-year blitz for immigration reform and a path to citizenship. At some offices, the visitors were forced to remain outside, stymied by locked doors and unresponsive staff. At others, the staff was openly hostile, kicking the visitors out and calling Capitol Hill police on them.
One space where advocates received a warm welcome today, however, was with Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). Reid, a champion of immigration reform and the DREAM Act, took time to meet with DREAMers and other activists, and later tweeted about his “commitment to keep fighting until immigration reform reaches the finish line.”
