Communities across the country came together again on Thursday for a National Day of Action to oppose the Trump Administration’s cruel and inhumane immigration policy that is separating children from their parents at the border.
Marches, rallies, vigils and protests were held in nearly 80 cities across the country by more than 4,000immigrants and allies, who called for family unification and condemned the Trump Administration for ripping families apart. The message was simple and clear — #FamiliesBelongTogether. Today’s action came just two weeks after an early June rally also calling for an end to the separation of families.
The Day of Action went beyond the streets with many calling on their elected officials on social media and asking them to take action and sign the Keep Families Together Act introduced by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
Also today, more than a dozen organizations including MoveOn, CREDO, KIND, MomsRising, Church World Service, the National Immigrant Justice Center, the Women’s Refugee Commission, and others delivered 300,000 petition signatures to DHS demanding the end of family separation and detention.
