Yesterday, House and Senate Democrats kicked off what is going to be one of the most important legislative issues this fall — passing the Dream Act and securing the gains of DACA for Dreamers. The Dream Act has been introduced in both the House and Senate, but Republicans will have to be pushed to let a clean Dream Act come to the floor.
House and Senate Democrats made their message clear yesterday first with a joint press conference, followed by a “conga line” in which dozens of House Democrats one after another called for a procedural vote on the Dream Act while lifting up stories of Dreamers (including our own Juan Escalante!) from their respective states. Senate Democrats, meanwhile, released videos expressing their support for the Dream Act and Dreamers.
