WATCH Colbert Report: Advocates Have Waited Forever for Immigration Reform

President Obama’s decision to delay executive action last weekend underscored how long the Hispanic community has been waiting for immigration reform, and how often the issue has been punted.  On the Colbert Report last night, Stephen Colbert aired a painful segment emphasizing just how long it’s been.  Running clips demonstrating that Republicans have been talking about passing immigration reform every single year since at least 2004, Colbert said that Obama stole the idea of delaying “from Republicans.  They’ve had the idea of putting off doing something on immigration reform for over a decade.”

And, since Republicans have been talking about passing immigration reform “next year” for quite a number of years, Colbert assured us that “next year, it’s guaranteed that [immigration reform] is a possibility.”
