This morning, Jesus Lara Lopez, an Ohio father of four, was deported back to Mexico and separated from his wife and children Eric, Edwin, Anuar, and Elsiy. Jesus had lived in the US for 16 years, had a work permit, and had no criminal record; his case drew support from neighbors, friends, employers, community members, fellow Ohioans, and others across the country. His children helped collect 35,000 signatures on a MoveOn petition asking the Trump Administration to let their father stay. But despite Trump’s repeated claims that he is only deporting “bad hombres”, his Administration separated this family and deported this father today — for no reason.
