PRESS CALL: #RacismIsntFunny Leaders to Speak Out on Why Donald Trump Should Have No Place on SNL
Press Call to Feature Victims of Trump Fan Aggression, New Letter to Call on SNL Cast to Speak Out Against Hate
On a press call to be held Friday, November 6th at 12 PM Eastern, leaders in the effort to protest Donald Trump’s impending “Saturday Night Live” appearance will highlight why they are speaking out with such force.
On the call, speakers will talk about disturbing incidents of aggression and hate that have popped up at Trump rallies all across the country. A recent Business Insider video shows Ronald Sanchez, who was spit on at a Richmond, VA Trump rally, talking about the fear he felt in the midst of a angry crowd of Trump fans.
Later today, some of the organizations on the call will release an open letter to the cast of Saturday Night Live, describing incidents of hate and aggression that seem to follow Donald Trump everywhere he goes, and asking them to speak out against what is happening. During his presidential campaign, Trump’s racist comments have been joined by a policy vision that would call for the mass deportation of 11 million people – an extreme and unprecedented attack on our families and our communities.
