With Florida likely to be the tipping point in this crucial election, Floridians are gathering in Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Osceola, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Orange, and Pinellas to watch the final presidential debate on Wednesday, October 19th.
Floridians will be listening closely to what Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have to say about immigration, the Supreme Court, jobs, and foreign policy. At many of the debate parties, community members will meet early for volunteer phone banks, building their power by coming together to change the direction of this election not just on the national level, but on a local level.
DACA recipients, DREAMer Moms, African Americans, immigrants, and members from a host of organizations, including SEIU Florida, Organize Now, New Florida Majority, Florida Immigrant Coalition, FLIC Votes, Florida’s Voice, WeCount, iAmerica and the Dream Defenders, will be available to provide key insight into important issues and discuss their motivation for voting and exercising their voices this election season. Also available for interviews will be first-time voters like Thomas Kennedy, who was once an undocumented youth and became a citizen just last month.
