America’s Voice Founder and Executive Director Frank Sharry appeared on Univision’s “Al Punto” with Jorge Ramos this past weekend to discuss immigration and the 2016 Presidential election.
“Nearly all Americans are opposed to Donald Trump’s plans,” said Sharry about the Republican nominee, who has proposed a massive wall along the US/Mexico border and deportation of 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States.
“We have to organize ourselves to stop his plans,” continued Sharry. “The American people have decided. They want legal status, legalization for the undocumented.”
According to a recent CNN poll, a whopping 88% of Americans support an earned path to citizenship, including 80% of Donald Trump’s own supporters. In that same polling, only 11% of respondents said that deportation should be the top immigration priority.
According to further polling from Latino Decisions, Trump is on track for a historically low performance among Latino voters, trailing his opponent Hillary Clinton 70%-19%.
