Ever since he came down the escalator in 2015, Donald Trump has taken a wrecking ball to the Statue of Liberty, dehumanizing and attacking immigrants at every turn. After four years of enduring cruel and inhumane policies under this administration, after the election was officially called in Joe Biden’s favor many immigrants and advocates expressed their joy, hope, and ongoing determination to turn the page on this dark chapter and continue the fight for better immigration policies.

When I see Kamala’s mom, I see my mama and papa.
Congrats to the daughter of immigrants, the first Black and Desi Vice President. pic.twitter.com/e4oQ6sR37X

The first Black women. The first daughter of immigrants—it’s what’s possible in this country.
I’m in awe of this moment. Just in tears 😭 of this historic moment.

That of course should be just the start. Just as Trump and Stephen Miller were relentless in using the power of the executive to hurt families, we must be relentless in using it to protect families. https://t.co/vwMQG8nQV2 #HomeIsHere #HereToStay

Trump launched his campaign calling us rapists.
I am at the Mexico City airport about to board a plane to go back HOME, where Trump will no longer be President.
There is something magical about learning the news from this side of the border.

Donald Trump began his campaign with a racist tirade against immigrants and people of color.
Today @KamalaHarris, a Black woman and daughter of immigrants, helped make him a one-term president and will soon become Vice President. pic.twitter.com/vlSjwnTE54

I hope we can start talking about immigration in a way that goes beyond Dreamers and “kids in cages,” because both of those populations have parents and they matter too.

Int'l students could always count on coming to the U.S. for higher education/work
But the past 4 years had travels bans, deportations, and an H1B/green card suspension
Praying that @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris restore the pursuit of the American Dream for all immigrants 🙏🏾
