When more than 100 women were arrested in an act of civil disobedience on Capitol Hill last fall, they powerfully demonstrated that immigration reform is a women’s issue, one that deeply affects mothers, fathers, families, and children.
That’s why the Alliance for Citizenship, with the Center for Community Change and others gathered early this morning outside the Capitol Hill Club, where Republicans were holding a Women’s Fundraiser for Delegate Barbara Comstock, a GOP Congressional candidate in Virginia. In attendance was Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers — a members of the House Republican leadership and the spokeswoman for the GOP State of the Union response last month — as well as other Republican women like Reps. Virginia Foxx (NC), Marsha Blackburn (TN), Candice Miller (MI), Lynn Jenkins (KS), Jackie Walorski (IN), Renee Ellmers (NC), and Ann Wagner (MO).
The advocates asked the Congresswomen to support immigration reform with a path to citizenship, in order to stop the separation of families. View the pictures here or below:
