Today, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated across the nation in #FamiliesBelongTogether rallies that blasted the Trump Administration’s policies of separating migrant children and families.

Over 780 events, organized by Families Belong Together, were held in all 50 states and elsewhere around the world. Attendees were asked to wear white in protest and solidarity. The crowd in Washington, D.C. was estimated at 35,000, while 60,000 showed up in Chicago; 30,000 in New York City; 30,000 in San Francisco; and 55,000 in Los Angeles. Events were also held everywhere from Montana to Florida to Pennsylvania to Iowa to Kansas to Utah, and many more.  Event attendees appeared to include large numbers of first-time rallygoers, spurred to action by Trump’s irredeemable policies on children.

As Ai-Jen Poo, Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, said in a press release summarizing the day’s events:

When these groups came together for the first time a few weeks ago we set out to not just galvanize the usual suspects, but to recognize that everyone has a role in fighting for the country that we want. Today’s event is not the culmination but the start of activating people from all walks of life, in every state to fight for the soul of American values.
