AV’s Juan Escalante to the NYT: Disappointing To See Executives At NBC Willing To Prioritize Ratings Over Respect

With NBC so far refusing to rescind Donald Trump’s invitation to host an episode of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, leaders from Latino and immigration groups are set to deliver over 460,000 petition signatures to NBC Studios later today calling on the network to drop Trump from SNL’s headline.

The New York Times quotes AV’s own Juan Escalante regarding today’s action:

“It is disappointing to see that Lorne Michaels and the executives at NBC are willing to prioritize their ratings over the dignity and respect of their viewers,” said Juan Escalante, a digital campaigns manager for America’s Voice, one of the pro-immigration groups participating in the protest.

“On Wednesday, we will raise our voices and ensure that NBC and ‘S.N.L.’ understand that Trump’s attacks on Latinos and immigrants are not funny.”

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus, United Farm Workers, Change.org, CREDO Action, MoveOn.org, the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, and the National Hispanic Media Coalition are just a few of the groups and organizations urging NBC to reconsider Trump’s booking.

America’s Voice plans on live-tweeting today’s petition delivery telling NBC Studios and SNL producer Lorne Michaels that Donald Trump’s #RacismIsntFunny here.
