Today, 19 Asian-American protesters, including two of the highest-ranking Asian-American leaders in the labor movement, were arrested in an act of civil disobedience that called on Congress to pass the Dream Act by the end of this year. Protesters blocked the entrance of Speaker Paul Ryan’s office and chanted for a vote.

The demonstration was part of a week of action that mobilized callers from all over the country to contact members of Congress about the Dream Act yesterday, and will feature in-person visits to Congressional offices tomorrow.

Today’s rally was organized by the AAPI Immigrant Organizing Table and featured Asian Americans Advancing Justice, the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO (APALA), the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium, and other advocates.
