New state-specific polling from Data for Progress in 12 states finds that the new pathways to citizenship proposals of Democrats’ budget package are overwhelmingly popular in each state, with an average of 68-25% support in the 12 states and ranging from a low of 62-35% support in Montana to a high of 80-15% support in Oregon.
The question asked: “Do you support or oppose legislation that would create an earned path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children, people who are contributing and working here legally due to war or natural disaster in their home countries, and farmworkers and other essential workers?”
In every state, the pro-immigration sentiment is the strong majority:
- Oregon: 80-15%; Washington: 73-21%; Colorado: 71-22%; New Hampshire: 70-27%; North Carolina: 69-23%; Arizona: 68-25%; Wisconsin: 68-24%; Pennsylvania: 66-28%; West Virginia: 66-26%; Michigan: 65-25%; Georgia: 63-27%; and Montana: 62-25%
