The following is a statement from Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice.

While we primarily focus our advocacy on immigration, we feel compelled to speak out after the horrifying police murders of Adam Toledo in Chicago and Daunte Wright in Minnesota.

The issues of police violence, racial injustice and the killing of Black and Brown people by agents of the state are issues for all of us. Americans from all walks of life and activists of all types of issues need to stand up and be heard to express our solidarity, outrage, and commitment to change.

We all need to fight for an America where people are not murdered by police with impunity and where we live up to our stated ideals of equality and justice for one and all, regardless of skin color, background or birthplace.

In the face of this blatant injustice, we will channel our rage and sorrow into a commitment to the ongoing struggle for an America that protects Black lives. Black lives matter. It will take all of us speaking out in the face of horrific police violence to transform this nation into one that realizes in practice our ideals of equality and justice.
