As Barack Obama and John McCain meet to discuss issues they can work on together in 2009, America’s Voice is optimistic that the need for immigration reform will be included on the agenda.  Given both leaders’ records on the issue, immigration reform is something they can unite behind. “We are thrilled to see these two important leaders coming together to discuss moving forward on some of the important problems Americans want addressed.  Immigration reform is not a Democratic issue or a Republican issue, it is an American issue, and voters overwhelmingly support tough, fair, and practical comprehensive immigration reform,” said Lynn Tramonte, Policy Director at America’s Voice.  “President-Elect Obama and Senator McCain have been champions of immigration reform in the past, and they would make a formidable team going forward,” she concluded.
