ARIZONA – As the U.S. Senate prepares to vote on Wednesday on a measure to revoke President Trump’s national emergency declaration, America’s Voice today launched online ads to hold Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ) accountable for funds President Trump has diverted from military projects and families and other priorities to fund his vanity project, the border wall. Earlier this month, the President used his executive power to alter budget allocations made by Congress to defund $3.6 billion in military construction projects and divert some $155 million in funds away from FEMA. Arizona will lose $30 million in approved military projects because of the President’s maneuver.

According to Pili Tobar, Deputy Director of America’s Voice: “The American people are outraged that Donald Trump and his Republican allies in Congress are robbing our military families of vital services and taking resources away from our troops that are meant to help keep America safe in order to pay for Trump’s border wall. The wall is nothing more than a gigantic 2020 campaign billboard funded by taxpayer money previously dedicated to vital military projects, emergency preparedness and other priorities.

“Arizona alone is being hit to the tune of $30 million that had been approved for military projects like schools and critical infrastructure, and now is being used for the President’s border wall vanity project. For Senators who face voters in 2020, like Sen. McSally, this is an important inflection point.

“Does Sen. McSally support Arizona and the military families who stand to lose schools and facilities, or does she stand with the President in maintaining the fiction that border wall spending constitutes a national emergency? Will Sen. McSally put country first or party first?”

Nationally, Republicans Senators will be targeted from Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin. Clicking on these ads will allow constituents to call their Senators to deliver a message directly before the vote.
