“We’ll Remember In Nov. Who Stood #WithTrump”: Advocates Deliver Taco Bowls To Republicans

Did you catch our taco bowl action yesterday? We know Sen. Rob Portman did. And so did Sen. John Cornyn. And Sen. Mark Kirk — and any other Congressional Republican standing with Donald Trump and his ugly vision of America.

When we heard that the GOP’s new standard-bearer would be meeting with Republican leaders in DC yesterday — and that Trump’s favorite Hispandering dish of taco salad would be on the Senate cafeteria menu that day, as it apparently is every Thursday — we knew we just had to spring into action.

Advocates — including our partners from Latino Victory Fund, UFW, and United We Dream Action — delivered the taco bowls along with a simple but resounding message to Republicans standing with Trump: Latino and immigrant voters will remember Trump’s party in November.

As one of the activists, DACA recipient Eric Cruz López told AV’s David Torres in his Spanish-language piece: “We are families that came here to work, to look for a better future. We haven’t hurt anyone and we are not what Donald Trump says we are.”

Among the Republicans targeted in the action:

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) , Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO), Rep. Joe Heck (R-NV), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Rep. David Valadao (R-CA), Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA), and Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO).
