In response to Eric Cantor losing his primary Tuesday night, Rachel Maddow aired a segment questioning the idea that Cantor’s “support” for immigration reform was to blame for his loss. Just because Dave Brat ran on an anti-immigrant campaign, Maddow points out, doesn’t mean that he won because of it. In fact, according to new PPP polling, immigration reform that recognizes the 11 million is popular in Cantor’s district — far more popular than Cantor is. And considering that unpopularity, it’s possible that Brat could’ve won by running on any issue.
