Supposedly, insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results,” but Senate Republicans are poised to pursue just that after yesterday’s failed vote seeking to kill DACA/DAPA. Today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to move to reconsider yesterday’s vote — and tomorrow, there might be another vote on the cloture motion McConnell filed. This is in the works despite the fact that Republicans are openly admitting that they have no exit strategy or game plan, and despite the fact that Democrats like McCaskill and Manchin — the very moderates who Republicans are trying to sway — are making it clear that they’ll support nothing less than a clean DHS bill.
Echoing the question we posed yesterday: how many times does the GOP want to take the same anti-immigrant votes? 2016 is around the corner, and their electability is at stake. Stay tuned.
