This week’s edition of the America’s Voice podcast, “180 Days,” is now available. The weekly podcast will run over the next six months as we approach the March 6, 2018 deadline for DACA. We cover the fight to protect Dreamers and pass the Dream Act – and other immigration news.
In the fifth episode, the AV team discussed the activism surrounding the arbitrary deadline DACA renewal date of October 5, 2017 as hundreds of Dreamers arrived in DC to rally and lobby on Capitol Hill. We also talked about the role of the leading anti-immigrant voice in the White House, Stephen Miller, who is leading the effort to undermine any deal on the Dream Act. There was some good news to discuss: Passage of the Trust Act in California. And, we also got an update on the 2017 elections in Virginia, where GOP candidate for Governor Ed Gillespie has doubled down on racist rhetoric in his campaign.
