WATCH: Best Picture Director Talks Immigrants, Immigration During Oscar Speech

Last night, filmmarker Alejandro González Iñárritu won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and dedicated his award to his fellow countrymen and to immigrants, saying:

I want to dedicate this award to my fellow Mexicans, the ones who live in Mexico.  I pray that we can build the government we deserve.  And the ones living in this country who are part of the latest generation of immigrants in this country, I pray that they can be treated with the same dignity and respect of the ones who came before and built this incredible immigrant nation.

Iñárritu also won Best Director last night, making him the second Mexican in a row to win the award (after Alfonso Cuarón with last year’s “Gravity”).  You can watch Iñárritu’s full speech below:
