So much for promising to govern.
There are roughly 14 days left before the Department of Homeland Security runs out of funding, and Republicans are still avoiding passing clean bill. The GOP House and Senate leadership are currently trying to pass responsibility like a hot potato between them, and the Senate has scheduled a fourth vote on a bill that Republicans cannot pass. All this because President Obama has announced executive action for immigrants, and Republicans have refused to govern unless the program is axed and the deportation of DREAMers and immigrant parents are resumed.
It’s a pretty senseless strategy for the GOP, as is pointed out in this new video today from Americans United for Change. Editorial boards, op-ed writers, and commentators have spent weeks pointing out the GOP’s folly, and you can check some of that out in the video below:
