Job Responsibilities

The Resource and Organizational Development Director will work with the Executive Director on raising funds, managing the board of directors and executing organizational strategy. The job includes grant writing, donor relationship management and working closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team. This person must be a very strong writer and highly organized.

Development Planning & Management. Responsible for managing the development and execution of the organization’s fundraising plan. Will work closely with the Executive Director and other members of the senior leadership team to develop fundraising strategies to hit our fundraising goals.

Grant Writing, Reporting, & Other Communication. Responsible for crafting compelling written fundraising materials, including (but not limited to) grant proposals, reports, and updates to program officers. Will lead the content generation process, including coordinating with key staff, collecting and synthesizing information about our work and our projects to make the strongest case for support. Will coordinate all grants reporting to ensure our funders, board, and staff members stay in the loop on key issues. Will assist in material development and marketing for key organizational documents and external communication.

Relationship Management. Responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships, including board members, donors and foundation officers.

Fundraising Systems & Database. Responsible for tracking all funder communication, grant tracking, and maintaining a clean and accurate fundraising database.

Support for Executive Director. Will help manage the Executive Director’s time spent on fundraising and stakeholder outreach. Will provide support, as needed, on meeting scheduling and logistical support to the Executive Director. Responsible for managing Executive Director’s preparations for meetings, presentations, and events. Will take on discrete projects and tasks, as requested by the Executive Director.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This is a full-time permanent position and a small amount of travel will be required.

Key qualifications

We’re looking for candidates with particular strengths in the following areas:

Excellent writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling grant proposals and reports.

Highly organized with a keen eye for detail. This person will bottom-line all fundraising systems and planning, so must be able to manage programs with many moving parts and develop systems to ensure fundraising success. Understands importance of goal setting and accountability and follows through 100% of the time.

Strong relationship builder. Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders, including managing up of the Executive Director, managing across with senior staff and working with funders and donors. Must have top-notch communication, listening and organizational skills.
