Ohio’s newest U.S. Representative, Troy Balderson, was just sworn into office.
They say you only have one chance to make a first impression, so let’s make ours count.
As Rep. Balderson settles into his new position and opens his new office, we’d like the first thing he hears to be calls about one of the most critical issues happening in our district: the deportation of Ohioans born in Mauritania.
The Trump Administration is targeting a group of Ohioans born in Mauritania, who have been in the U.S. for decades. Most of them came to the country seeking asylum from horrific human rights abuses such as slavery, human trafficking, and terrorism.
Currently, there are around 40 Mauritanians in immigration detention and around 200 across the country who could eventually be deported. These are our neighbors, who work hard, pay taxes, and raise American families.
We need to stop these deportations. Call Representative Troy Balderson at (202) 225-5355 and urge him to take action for our Mauritanian neighbors.

Hi, my name is __ and I am one of your constituents. Donald Trump is targeting a group of Ohioans born in Mauritania for deportation. Mauritania is not a safe country and these families don’t deserve to be deported. Advocates have sent you a letter; please sign on and take immediate action to stop these deportations.

Our Mauritanian neighbors are part of our community and need to be treated with respect. We cannot let them return to a country where they will face abuse and violence.
