Vote “No” on Anti-Immigrant Amendments to Omnibus from Senator Lee and Senators Tester and Sinema
Vanessa Cárdenas: “A Democratic administration and a Democratic-controlled Congress should not extend and codify policies championed by Stephen Miller that trample on our values, misuse public health authority, and compound chaos and disorder at the border.”
Washington, DC – America’s Voice urges “no” votes on both Senator Mike Lee’s Title 42 amendment 6563 and the Tester/Sinema amendment, which includes the text of Senator Lee’s amendment and adds additional punitive detention and mass-expulsion policies.

“Democratic Senators should vote ‘no’ on both anti-immigrant amendments to the omnibus.
A Democratic administration and a Democratic-controlled Congress should not extend and codify policies championed by Stephen Miller that trample on our values, misuse public health authority, and compound chaos and disorder at the border. Title 42 makes border management worse and is not justified by any current public health rationale and never was. The federal government should manage immigration under immigration law or consider revising those laws without contorting public health laws to apply them to border management.
We need to turn the page on Trump and Miller policies and recognize that these failed deterrence-only efforts did not work and maintaining or extending them would add to existing disorder while moving us farther from the broader solutions we need.”
