Vanessa Cárdenas Reacts to TPS Revocation for Honduras and Nicaragua

Washington, DC —Yesterday, the Trump administration announced the revocation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Honduras and Nicaragua.

The following is a statement from Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice, in reaction:

“The Trump administration’s revocation of TPS for Honduras and Nicaragua will harm our economy and destabilize American communities and families. It’s part of the larger Trump administration effort to make as many immigrants as possible detainable and then deportable, even longtime residents who have had the legal status, work permits, and stability afforded by TPS.

Stripping people who are here legally, working and paying taxes, from their legal status does absolutely nothing to fix our immigration system or make Americans safer. Instead, it replaces a functional, legal program with more of the Trump-induced chaos and cruelty from which Americans are already recoiling.”
