Washington, DC — In the Washington Times article, “ICE sets 1 million deportation target for 2026, 2027,” Stephen Dinan reports:
“It has long been rumored and denied, but ICE has now made it official: a goal of 1 million deportations a year. The agency quietly included the number in its budget explanation to Congress several weeks ago. It told lawmakers that it has the ‘capacity’ and ‘commitment’ to deport more illegal immigrants.”
According to Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice:
“The official ICE quota of one million deportations per year recognizes that despite the public’s rejection of the violence and cruelty, the Trump and Miller mass deportation campaign continues unchecked, unaccountable and unabated.
While the administration keeps using the talking point of the ‘worst of the worst’ and emphasizing their focus on ‘criminals,’ the pressure to fulfill Miller’s quotas ensures that they are instead going after long-established community members with deeply rooted lives and families here – like military spouses, college kids traveling home for the holidays, and Venezuelan doctors in South Texas, who were first stripped of legal status and then targeted for deportation.
All of it makes the case for why America cannot spend one more dime on this chaos and cruelty. We need real accountability and real reform – not blank checks to fund Stephen Miller’s crusade.”
