AMERICA’S VOICE REACTS TO SCOTUS RULING IN KILMAR GARCÍA CASE

On Thursday, SCOTUS ordered the Trump administration to “facilitate” Kilmar Abrego García’s return to Maryland. While the ruling was carefully worded, the message was clear: bring him home. However, a hearing in Judge Xinis’ courtroom today showed U.S. officials’ intent to continue delaying. The case is greater than just one family. “As we have been saying, immigration is the tip of the spear in the Trump administration’s attacks on the rule of law and due process and their attempts to run roughshod over the separation of powers is a threat to all Americans,” said AV Executive Director Vanessa Cárdenas. HUNDREDS OF STUDENT VISAS TARGETED

The New York Times reported that nearly 300 students have recently had their visas revoked, putting them at risk of deportation. The story puts into perspective what college campuses and media have been reporting: beyond the headlines and in conjunction with the administration’s broader anti-immigration agenda, the administration is seeking to evict foreign students. “This is what mass deportation looks like,” said Cárdenas. “Alongside high profile cases and major Trump administration announcements are the insidious everyday examples of what they are up to and who they are targeting.” Read more here.

‘HUMANS AREN’T PRODUCTS TO BE WRAPPED, PACKAGED, AND SHIPPED’

In remarks during a recent “2025 Border Security Expo” held in Phoenix, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons stated that deportations should be operated like Amazon Prime, “but with human beings.” Human beings are not objects, Cárdenas responded. “Immigrants are hardworking taxpayers, dedicated parents, and dependable co-workers; they are community members, Dreamers, TPS holders and caregivers; they have dreams and due process rights and basic dignities that this administration refuses to acknowledge.” Read more here.

MARIBEL HASTINGS: ‘IT’S WELL SAID THAT THOSE WHO DO NOT REMEMBER HISTORY ARE CONDEMNED TO REPEAT IT’

In her weekly column, America’s Voice consultant Maribel Hastings expands on another recent ruling from the Supreme Court and the administration’s related actions, particularly the threat it poses to the due process rights of Americans and noting the 1798 wartime law’s ties to the U.S. internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. “It’s well said that those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it,” she writes. Her column was also published in several outlets, including La Opinión, Radio Bilingüe, and La Tribuna Hispana. Read her column in English here and Spanish here

TOWN RALLIES AROUND DAIRY WORKER MOM AND KIDS

Over the past weekend, 1,000 demonstrators took to the streets of Sackets Harbor, New York, to demand the release of a dairy worker and her kids. The protest was notable for several reasons: Sackets Harbor has just 1,400 residents, and it’s also the hometown of border czar Tom Homan. Their organizing worked. On Monday, the community got the news that the family would be coming back home. “In the midst of this difficult time, the strength, compassion, and resilience of our community have shone through,” the local school superintendent said. UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS CONTRIBUTE

Ahead of Tax Day, it’s important to acknowledge the immense contributions that undocumented immigrants make to our economy. In 2022 alone, these workers paid nearly $100 billion in taxes. But despite these contributions, they remain a target. Help defend the contributions of undocumented workers and share this reminder ahead of Tax Day.

BRING KILMAR HOME

On Wednesday, members of Congress joined Kilmar Abrego García’s wife, Jennifer, and immigrant advocacy leaders from CASA to call for his return to his Maryland community. “It’s been 28 days since I last saw my husband. Since his children hugged him, since his mother has kissed him, since his brother has talked to him,” she said. “If you can hear me, I’m still fighting for you — your brother, your mother, your children. We’re still fighting for you, and we’re not gonna give up hope.” Click here to watch more from the emotional press event.
