Washington, DC — On Wednesday, experienced bilingual communicator and activist Ivonne Rodríguez joins the staff of America’s Voice as Director of Communication, Vanessa Cárdenas, the organization’s Executive Director announced.

Rodríguez most recently served as National Communications Senior Manager for Make the Road States and Make the Road Action (the organizing and advocacy umbrella for Make the Road organizations in New York, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Jersey and Connecticut). She has also consulted with a number of organizations in the immigration space, including the Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center in El Paso as an independent consultant, and at Berlin Rosen and GMMB. She has an BA from the George Washington University and is originally from Honduras.

According to Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice:

“There is never a dull moment in the immigration space and as we prepare for a busy year, we are adding capacity and bilingual media savvy. Ivonne Rodríguez has on-the-ground experience with the immigration and immigrant communities and has lived the immigrant experience. America’s Voice will benefit from her work with border service and advocacy groups and with the communities in key states where immigrants live and work, like those in the national Make The Road network. She is an exciting addition to our team.”

Rodríguez joins a Comms team that includes Douglas Rivlin, Senior Director of Communication and Mario Carrillo, the Texas-based Director of Campaigns for AV.
