The following is a statement from Frank Sharry of America’s Voice reacting to the immigration discussion during tonight’s vice presidential debate:
“On immigration, Gov. Mike Pence tonight attempted to whitewash the scope and intentions of Donald Trump’s radical immigration stance.
While Gov. Pence was either willfully ignorant or purposefully obfuscating the true details of the Trump immigration plan, Donald Trump himself clarified in his dark and nativist speech in Phoenix in September that the intended outcome of his immigration policy would be to deport or force out most, if not all, of the 11 million undocumented immigrants settled in America.
The bottom line is that the Trump immigration plan is mass deportation with a topping of self-deportation. It is the most extreme position of any modern presidential candidate in American history. It is deeply unpopular with voters and is profoundly un-American.”
