The vote comes amid a growing body of reporting that raises questions about the administration’s immigration priorities and the real-world consequences of its enforcement agenda. In recent days, a federal judge ordered the administration to restart immigration and asylum processing that had left more than one million applications stalled. New reporting from NBC News examined the judges helping accelerate deportation cases, while The New York Times documented mounting pressure on already-overwhelmed immigration courts. CNN detailed allegations of mistreatment and deteriorating conditions inside a major private detention facility that stands to benefit from expanded detention spending.
