United We DreamToday, United We Dream (UWD), the largest network of immigrant-youth led organizations in the country, announced its campaign to educate 500,000 DREAMers on Obama’s relief policy. They spoke about their plan to educate their communities about the process, the guidelines and documents needed; as well as warned the community of potential notario and other types of fraudulent immigration advisors who may try to take advantage of young people pursuing deferred action.

Cristina Jiménez, the managing director of UWD, led the call.  Juan Carlos Lara-Armienta, the Head of Regional and Latino Affairs of the Mexican Embassy, Laura Lichter, the president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and Iván Rosales, DREAMer featured in the PSAs and founder of Students for Equal Access to Education in California informed English and Spanish media about the most recent developments of their campaign.

UWD leaders plan to send their message about notario fraud and implementation through four radio public service announcements, as well as announce the National DREAM Day at Mexican consulates across the country and application drives throughout the country.

To date, local leaders affiliated with UWD have held over 120 community forums across the country, in addition to weekly webinars, reaching a total of over 80,000 people.

UWD will continue leading efforts to make that sure that Obama’s DREAMer relief becomes a reality.
