Steve King: I'm STILL Planning to Sue President Obama After November

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) again promised that he would sue President Obama over his deferred action program (DACA) yesterday during his final debate against challenger Christie Vilsack (D).

“I intend to follow through on that,” King responded to a question about whether he still had plans to file the lawsuit.  “I ran into a few barriers because the election was bogging people down.”  King estimated that he would still be able to get the lawsuit filed this year.

King has been talking about plans to sue the President since June, DACA was first announced—but postponed the lawsuit until after November when he found himself mired in a tough re-election race against Vilsack, Iowa’s former First Lady.

Vilsack also used yesterday’s debate to call King out for an episode where he compared immigrants to cattle and suggested that the US put up an electric fence on the Mexican border to prevent immigrants from entering.  King tried to dodge the accusation, saying “that’s a false statement, so I’m not even going to respond to it.”  But as the Omaha World-Herald reminded us today:

In 2006, King brought a model of an electric, wire-topped fence to the House floor.

“We could also electrify this wire with the kind of current that would not kill somebody, but it would be a discouragement for them to be fooling around with it,” King said at the time. “We do that with livestock all the time.’

King’s extremist attacks on immigrants are becoming a key front in Vilsack’s arguments against him.  This week, Vilsack released this ad chastising King for—among other things—his statements comparing immigrants to dogs and cattle.  Watch below:
