Reid: DREAM vote coming

by Jacquelyn Mahendra on 11/18/2010 at 5:02pm

After months — no, make that years — of hard work, our moment is finally here: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is bringing the DREAM Act up for a vote after Thanksgiving.

Via Twitter:

I will move the DREAM Act as a standalone bill in the lame duck. It’s good for the economy & Pentagon says good for natl security.

This is the closest we’ve come to providing a pathway to citizenship for nearly a million young people who are American in all but paperwork.  Still, our most important work is just ahead.  In order to make this happen, we’re going to need to win several Republican votes and convince shaky Democrats in both the House and the Senate to vote the right way.

Right now, Congress needs to hear from you.

Send a fax telling your representative to vote for the DREAM Act.

We know our voices are making a difference. Last week thousands of you sent letters asking Senator Reid to move forward on the DREAM Act, and last night we received his answer. Without your support, we would never have made it this far.

Now, the rest of Congress needs to hear from us. They need to know that the majority of Americans support the DREAM Act.

Send your fax today!
