PRESS CALL: Ahead of AG Sessions Visit, Long Island Community Leaders Stand United In Support of Their Community and Against Sessions-Trump Hate

Long Island, NY —Ahead of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ visit to Long Island, NY, local community leaders and national immigration experts will gather on a press call today at 3pm EST.

What Long Island needs is for local leaders, elected officials, and law enforcement to come together to address our challenges, not a politically-motivated visit by the divisive Sessions. Given his hateful rhetoric and radical policy agenda, his visit is more likely to inflame tensions, demonize immigrants, and be about advancing his political agenda than in helping Long Islanders join in unity to move forward together.

A unity letter from Islip residents and representatives from local organizations will be released at the time of the call.

WHO:

  • A Community member from Make the Road New York
  • Sister Rosalie Carven, Sisters of St. Joseph-Brentwood
  • David Leopold, Immigration Attorney and former President of AILA
  • Rashmia Zatar, Executive Director of STRONG Youth, Inc.
  • Frank Sharry, Executive Director, America’s Voice Education Fund (Moderator)
  • WHEN: TODAY, April 27 at 3pm EST
