harry reidThe U.S. Senate reconvened today and issued a list of their 2013 legislative priorities.  Immigration reform is listed as S.1, signifying its importance to Senate leadership.

According to Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice Education Fund:

Majority Leader Reid has made it clear – in his public statements and in his role as Senate leader – that immigration reform is going to be the number one issue readied for Senate action and that reform must include citizenship for America’s 11 million undocumented immigrants.  Meanwhile, White House senior advisor David Plouffe said yesterday: ‘This is the moment. The stars seem to be aligned to finally get comprehensive immigration reform.’  The combination of Reid’s leadership and White House commitment makes us optimistic that 2013 is the year immigration reform becomes a reality.
