The Gang of Eight Senators wrote the bipartisan immigration bill introduced this week held a press conference this afternoon that underscored the bipartisan momentum on behalf of reform.  Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John McCain (R-AZ), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) each spoke powerfully and persuasively in support of their legislation and expressed optimism that this is immigration reform’s year.

Said Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice Education Fund:

We strongly commend each and every member of the Gang of Eight for individual their effort and success at forging bipartisan legislation that serves our nation’s interests and values.  We are more confident than ever that we’ll get a good comprehensive bill across the finish line this year.

Tomorrow and Monday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) will hold the fourth and fifth in a series of thorough and robust hearings on immigration reform. Under the leadership of Sen. Leahy and this strong bipartisan group, we trust that immigration reform will advance through the Senate in a fair and transparent manner.
