ABC News/Univision Video: Immigration Advocates Turn Up the Heat on Congress

Share This:

As we’ve been writing about all month, it’s August recess, and immigration reform advocates all over the nation are turning up the heat on Members of Congress.  Advocates, DREAMers, family members, union allies, faith leaders, and many others are turning out at rallies, petition deliveries, and town halls in key districts and asking legislators to support immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship.  House Republicans from Corpus Christi, Texas to Asheboro, North Carolina to Bakersfield, California have been treated to visually stunning summer, as scores of advocates have been showing up in caps and gowns, holding colorful signs, delivering baskets of fruit and DACA birthday cakes–all to make the case for immigration reform.  You can view the many photos and tweets that we’ve captured here.

Thanks to the pressure, at least 23 House Republicans have already come out in favor of immigration reform and a path to citizenship.

Jordan Fabian and Geneva Sands at ABC News-Univision/Fusion have a new video today capturing the spirit of the summer.   “There’s no question,” they write, “that advocates have grabbed the attention of lawmakers this August.”
